I built TeeCaddie as a simple virtual caddie that learns your game over time.
TeeCaddie is a reprisal of an old Windows Phone app I wrote years ago. I always liked the virtual caddie idea, and this was my chance to bring it back in a more polished and modern form for iPhone.
The main idea is simple: the more a golfer uses the app, the more it learns about their game. Instead of assuming every player hits a 7-iron the same distance, TeeCaddie gets more personalized over time as it builds a better understanding of how far that specific golfer hits each club.
I also wanted the app to account for real playing conditions, especially wind speed and direction. That makes the recommendations feel more practical, while still keeping the overall experience simple enough to use quickly on the course.
What it does
- 1
Track how far the user actually hits each club and use that history to improve suggestions.
- 2
Make club recommendations that become more accurate the more the app is used.
- 3
Factor wind speed and direction into shot suggestions.
- 4
Keep the experience simple enough to use quickly during a round.
- 5
Focus on virtual caddie utility instead of trying to be an all-in-one golf platform.
Who it's for
Golfers who want a simple virtual caddie that becomes more personalized the more they use it.
How it's built
I built TeeCaddie as a SwiftUI iPhone app that combines golfer-specific shot data with WeatherKit so recommendations can improve over time and account for real playing conditions.
Why it matters
Most golfers do not need another oversized golf app. They need a quick, simple second opinion that feels useful on the course and gets smarter as it learns more about their game.
